How does the implementation of 21st century technology, within STEM,
enhance and elevate year 3/4 student learning?
Standard Four: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments.
4.1 Support student participation
Proficient: Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support all students in classroom activities.
Evidence:

The teacher sets group or paired work partners in the STEM room as this incorporates all students in active participation

Remind student of inclusion expectations at the start of each term and the code of cooperation
4.2 Manage classroom activities
Proficient: Establish and maintain orderly and workable routines to create an environment where student time is spent on learning tasks.
Evidence:

Written steps on the board that specify and show students exactly what needs to be completed.

Purpose clearly stated and read out to each individual class before the beginning of work

Volume expectation set for each individual activity in the STEM room. This is done using the Noise-o-meter
4.3 Manage challenging behaviour
Proficient: Manage challenging behaviour by establishing and negotiating clear expectations with students and address discipline issues promptly, fairly and respectfully.
Evidence:

Clear STEM room expectations are written in each students' book at the beginning of the year. This is built on the student's STEM Code of Cooperation

Whole school behaviour model hung in the STEM room and referred to if needed
4.4 Maintain student safety
Proficient: Ensure students’ well-being and safety within school by implementing school and/ or system, curriculum and legislative requirements.
Evidence:

Teacher-guided chemical science lessons. Students are always shown a chemical science demonstration before their own attempt at the same procedure.

STEM room code of cooperation written in student books, including issues like movement around the STEM room
4.5 Use ICT safely, responsibly and ethically
Proficient: Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT in learning and teaching.
Evidence:

All students are briefed and have signed a User Agreement policy regarding their technology use at Tulliallan

Use of Online programs such as Plickers, Seesaw, Survey Monkey, Blog, Vlogs, Wiki Submissions, Photography, Google Classroom and Google Sharing
